Best way to get from Whittier to Anchorage? Cheapest?
I'm cruising with Carnival from Vancouver to Whittier. The airport is in Anchorage. What's the best way to get from Whittier to Anchorage? Any recommendations for particular companies? The ship gets into Whittier at 7:30 am, debarkation (probably 2 hours?), and our flight leaves at 5:00 pm. Any suggestions?

Cruise lines usually have round trip AND one way transfers between the cruise port and the airport. So contact Carnival and request a one way transfer to the Anchorage airport. They will have buses coming from anchorage bringing passengers, or in your case they will take passengers to Anchorage by bus and then bring the new cruiser back from Anchorage to the ship. With a 5:00 PM flight you will have plenty of time. You will probably be off the ship by 9:00 Am

I also say use the cruise ship ground transportation. It doesn't cost much and is hassle free.

My husband and I did that cruise a few years ago. We flew into Anchorage and spent a day sightseeing before the cruise. We then took the train from Anchorage to Whittier. It costs $65 per person and takes you directly to the cruise terminal.
