If there is t.v. on the flight then just let her watch some barney or dora the explorer that should do the trick.

I hate screaming kids on long flights after paying all that money i want to enjoy the experience not have a screaming kid in my ear for 8 hours. Dont go or wait till your kids older.

I don't know that it's a good idea to actually give her something to make her sleep. See if you can tire her out before the flight by making sure she is very active and have a lot of colouring books available on the flight.
4 :
get a dvd player thing so she can watch some movies you guys have

Take lots of things to keep her occupied throughout the flight but don't introuduce them in quick succession. Suggestions Playdough, which she can play with on the lap tray, with plastic cookie cutter shapes Books Crayons Tomy megasketcher sticker books Nursery rhymes with actions Flash cards Find and stick pictures in a scrap book Take a portable DVD player if you can Feely bag - put one item in a small bag at a time - like an apple - and let your child feel it from the outside to try to guess what the items in the bag are. Take your time over meals and snacks Good Luck

Actually, your daughter does NOT have to sit still the whole time. When the seat belt sign is off, you can take her for a walk in the cabin. As a Flight Attendant, I saw a lot of parents drug children to get them to sleep. Usually it worked but a couple of times it went really wrong. The children went all wired and it was an uncomfortable flight for everyone (parents, child, those around them). Talk to your child's doctor before doing this and make sure it's something she has taken on the ground. You do not need a full dose (drugs are stronger in the air) and be aware that she could wake up dehydrated and disoriented. Since this isn't a really long flight, I doubt it's necessary. Is it a night flight? A better way to get her to sleep is to bring her car seat. As a Flight Attendant and a mom who flies a lot with my kids, children are much more comfortable and likely to sleep in their familiar car seat. Not only is this the only way to fly safely with a small child but it means your car seat will get to Vegas in good shape. NEVER check a car seat in as luggage. It can too easily be lost and/or damaged en route. Do you need your car seat there? If not, look into renting or buying a "CARES harness" (google it). Bring some new toys and surprise her once you're on board. Simple toys work best at this age; coloring supplies, pipe cleaners, stickers, simple plastic toys like animals and cars, dolls, etc. No toys that make any noise (even a quiet noise played 10,000 times will drive everyone batty). I have a portable DVD player but it can keep my kids awake and I didn't have one until the youngest was three and would wear the headphones. Do NOT play anything over the speakers. Make sure she will wear them and practice at home first. My kids aren't big "screen watchers" so it wouldn't have kept them occupied. Be aware that there are other gizmos, including using your laptop, to show films. A good tip is to record films on to your hard drive because playing a disk runs the battery down (you can't recharge on board-usually!) Don't forget lots of snacks and perhaps order her a special meal. She needs at least one change of clothes. Bring a sippy cup and way more diapers than you think she'll use. They go through them quicker than when you're at home and you may end up changing her when you can, rather then waiting till its full. Some parents use "nighttime" diapers for travel. For more information, nine years ago I wrote an article on this subject. It's based on both my personal and professional experience of flying with children. It's totally non-commercial and other parents from around the world have contributed; http://flyingwithchildren1.blogspot.com Have a good trip!

try to buy tickats for a flight as late as possible so she can sleep her normal hours and she will actually sleep. take along a dvd player and plenty of barney or whatever she likes watching and as much milk the tsa will allow you to carry onboard. good luck with that one anyway. hope you survive. oh yea remember a dvd battery only lasts 2 hours so make sure you have anough juce for 8 hours and toons for 8 hours also
