Is it possible to get a seat next to a friend if we depart from two different locations

Is it possible to get a seat next to a friend if we depart from two different locations?
I am leaving out of Tulsa, Oklahoma and my friend is leaving out of Anchorage, Alaska. We are both going to Hamburg, Germany and I was wondering how we could get on the same flight for the longest flight. I don't know if we even take the same route to get to Hamburg but I was really just wondering if this is possible, and if so, then how?

A quick search for flights from ANC to HAM shows 25 flight combinations. All but 1 first lands in Seattle then off to either NY, Newark, Paris, or London. The other flight, Delta 2223 goes to Salt Lake City and then Detroit to Paris , and finally to Hamburg. A flt to Salt Lake City from Tulsa seems reasonable. Then you can fly together on 3 more flights on Delta and Air France equipment. You have to connect to flt 2223 in SLC. The next leg of this flt to Detroit leaves SLC at 8:40 AM. From there take common planes. I have found that it is relatively easy to get an assigned seat from the airline website. A travel agent can do the same.
